Jewelry Care Guide
Congratulations on your new jewelry! It’s designed and handcrafted with lots of love and care, consisting of precious metal and doesn’t contain lead or nickel. To maintain the beauty of your Moonwake Jewelry piece, there are several things to keep in mind. High quality still means it should be treated with care.
General Care
This applies for your jewelry whether it’s 14 or 18 karat golden or sterling silver jewelry.
Remove your jewelry every time you go swimming, take a bath or shower, go to sleep, and while cleaning or exercising. Factors such as salt water, chemicals, heat, direct sunlight and other metals will damage it. Store your jewelry in a jewelry box or pouch to avoid overtime tarnishing and potential scratching.
If your jewelry is in need of some cleaning please use warm water with a neutral soap to remove the dirt and make sure to gently dry it with a soft towel. Every once in a while you can polish it lightly for a few minutes with a microfiber polishing cloth.
Oxidized Silver and Gold Plated Jewelry
Some pieces have a different finish, such as oxidized silver for a black finish or gold plated silver for a budget friendly gold finish. Both are thin layers on the surface and might wear off when worn often. Depending on the design, the ‘General Care’ can be applied to keep it in the best condition as long as possible, though don’t polish it too much or too rough if you want to keep this look.
Memorial jewelry
Whether there are ashes, hair, fur, or any other type of material inside for keepsaking, I’ve secured them in a safe way. Nevertheless this is no guarantee for them to be waterproof so I urge you to keep them dry and away from water or chemicals. Apply the ‘General Care’ combined with the specific metal care.
Should any issues occur with your piece, do feel free to contact me. Thank you for your purchase and I hope you’ll wear your jewelry with the same amount of love that I made it with.
